I might have gotten a bit overzealous when I set goals in the summer for the school year. So I'm going to reassess and see what I can do. Having a one year old and expecting myself to have all this time to do things is not realistic. I've got a little over an hour a day to work on my goals. I'm going to focus on what I've done successfully.
Creating at least one Teacherspayteachers material a month
Sharing those materials on Pinterest, TikTok, and Instagram
Illustrating my children's book little by little
Writing a Self Help book for Nuerodivergent individuals
Being flexible in Co-Teaching
Creating Culturally Responsive and Inclusive resources on Canva
Please take a moment to engage in reflective practice and revisit the goals you set at the onset of the academic year. Embrace the principles of self-compassion, patience, and resilience as you navigate this journey. It's essential to acknowledge and celebrate the accomplishments you've made while also recognizing areas where growth is still needed. Remember, progress, not perfection, is the ultimate goal.
I encourage you to leverage the power of collaboration and seek support from your peers. Building a strong professional network can alleviate feelings of isolation and provide valuable insights and resources. Although it may seem daunting, reaching out to colleagues for guidance and collaboration can foster a sense of belonging and shared purpose.
As an early career educator, it's common to experience moments of uncertainty and self-doubt. However, it's crucial to recognize that you are not alone in this journey. By actively engaging with your colleagues and fostering meaningful connections, you can cultivate a supportive community that uplifts and empowers each other.
Take the initiative to connect with a new colleague each day or week, fostering a culture of inclusivity and support within your school community. Additionally, demonstrating kindness and appreciation towards support staff, such as secretaries and custodians, can further strengthen relationships and contribute to a positive school environment.
Remember, you possess the resilience and determination needed to overcome challenges and thrive in your role as an educator. Wishing you continued growth, resilience, and positivity as you navigate the middle of the academic year. You've got this!
